Does RVShare really work?

Renting an RV to see new places and make beautiful memories for your families is truly exciting, but the actual process of renting an RV may feel overwhelming, especially if you haven’t done it before.

Fortunately, services such as RVshare exist to connect RV owners to RV renters. This is a form of peer-to-peer RV rental that started in 2012.

Mark, one of the cofounders of the company, bought an RV to travel around the country with his wife Rachel for their honeymoon.

After coming back, the new RV was just sitting around unused, which is when they decided to rent it out to make some extra money.

How does RVshare work?

Think about RVshare as a sort of Airbnb for RV rentals. This is a platform that allows anyone who owns an RV to list it for rent and start making extra money.

As a renter, you can find the perfect RV by inputting your location and your preferred dates for pick up and drop off.

You can easily filter the results by type of RV, location, price, and more. Once you’ve narrowed down the selection, you can proceed to book the RV.

What are the requirements to book an RV?

There are some requirements you need to fulfill to rent an RV on RVshare. You need to be at least 25 years old, have a valid driver’s license with at least three years of driving history, and you’ll also need to pass an automated DMV check for things such as DUIs, suspended license and negligent collisions.

How does the booking process work?

Once you have passed the DMV check, you can proceed to confirming your dates and request to book your RV online. Some of the listings allow you to book the RV without having to contact the owner. Look for the “Instant Book” feature enabled on listings.

The booking process is straightforward, as all you have to do is enter your personal data such as first and last name, email address and phone number, and then tell the owner about your trip.

This second part is important because you’re renting from someone who owns the RV, which means they’ll be interested to know that you’ll handle the vehicle with care. This is the place where you can tell the owner about any guests you’ll be bringing, the reason for the trip or whether you’ve rented an RV before.

When booking an RV, you can also choose some upgrades that are also known as the “Easy Living Package.” In exchange for a fee, you can get the inside of the RV cleaned when you return it so you don’t have to do it, the water dumped and the tanks refilled.

Finally, all that’s left to do is confirm the booking and make the payment. Make sure you have a close look at the fees and options as each owner has different ones. If it’s your first time booking on RVshare, you’ll also need to go through the ID verification process.

After receiving the confirmation from the owner, you’ll be able to pick the RV at the time listed in the booking.

Like most rental companies, RVshare has its pros and cons, but if you’re looking for an easy way to try the RV life without making an investment, the site is a great choice.
